Went to Barnes and Noble this a.m. - plenty of freeloading loafers sitting around manhandling the magazines. Apparently, B and N doesn't care, but who the hell wants to buy a magazine that has been well used?

It is a place to buy books, not an f'in library.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but they not only "don't care", they invite it by having couches, chairs, and tables sitting around. Not a big deal, IMO. Who buys magazines from a bookstore nowadays anyway?

Just don't make the mistake of taking one of the books into the shitter with you. They make you buy it and then red flag it so you can't return it.

I think this is pretty much what they are counting on. I think they probably make more on coffee sales than they do on book/magazine sales.

huh?

If I know anyone who refuses a book or magazine because someone else read it first, I sure I never find out that detail about them.

It's smart to let them read in there.

1 cup of coffee for an hour = wayyy more than a yearly subscription to a magazine. Or a one-time purchase of a book. Especially considering these people will repeat their behavior.
