Besides, that poster was not talking about the parking of a boat in an HOA context. He was posting about it, period.
I pay 65 a month here in houston and goes toward landscape of the common areas , pool maintenance and park maintenance.
What it doesnt go is toward my selfish , thoughtless neighbors who dont maintain there yards and park 5 cars in the driveway.
Its trashy, and yes im that guy that alwasy complains to the HOA .

When "Cousin Lucky" gets his 1.3 million dollar settlement from slipping on pee pee at the costco and buys the house right next door to you, I would pay good money to stand right next to you while you watch him put lawn chairs and a broken toilet in his front yard :)

What? frick you. Somewhere other than where I live?
No, somewhere other than the front of your house in the driveway so the entire neighborhood has to look at it every day.
Maybe backyard? Build a bigger garage? Your camp? Store it in boat storage? There are lots of options besides your driveway.
Its different obviously if its one day and you're leaving the next day on a fishing trip or something, but to leave it there year round is fricking ridiculous.
and trashy AF.

run a mechanic shop out of his driveway.
That's a zoning violation. Why do you need an HOA to enforce that?
I guess if you live in backwoods St Bernard parish you might have trouble getting a city/town official out there.

Lawn chairs in the front yard :onoze:

You say this till a new neighbor moves in 3 doors down and decides hes going to run a mechanic shop out of his driveway.
I have owned five houses in regular neighborhoods in three different cities. Never once have I ever seen anything like that. City ordinances still exist in neighborhoods without HOAs, and also not living in a trailer park helps.

I've never had an issue (outside af an apartment situation when I was young) in which I felt my neighbors were out of line or they felt I was out of line. Probably because we aren't uptight assholes who want the entire neighborhood to conform to our sensibilities

When I was the treasurer of my association I mailed out a spreadsheet monthly of everything that the association paid for.
I also included a directory of all households with a checkmark for the past 5 years as to who had paid their dues. Due to the poor way out covenants were written there was not really a way to force someone to pay. So I guilted the ones who did not pay.
I also included each homeoweners phone numbers and legal street addresses in case a homeowner who was paying could get in touch with the deadbeats and ask them to pay the dues.
It worked. After 2 years, out of 66 houses I had only one who refused to pay. He actually put a sign in his yard saying he would never pay the dues and to not call him.

HOA are a sham and are just bilking you. Just live somewhere with rules and move on. If it's not against the law they cant really enforce it and if it is the cops can handle it.

Generally speaking HOA's are a waste of money. Why let someone else tell you what you can and can't do with your property?
How about the entrance of the property smart arse??
HOAs are to aid in protecting your property values. HOAsgenerally speaking, are here to protect the property values of the sundivision from homeowners like you!
