What the hell are people thinking who have text tones that drag on for like 4 or 5 seconds? I'm at the airport and some jackass has that really intense sounding tone that keeps going off every 3 minutes or so. I'm definitely going to say something to him once I figure out who it is.

But seriously what is the thought process behind this? How do you not get sick of it yourself hearing that crap 95 times per day?

I think pretty much anyone these days holding text conversations and not putting their phone on silent are assholes. Mostly 40-70 year olds.

We don't need to hear your tone every 20 seconds when you get a text

It's really unbelievable - he got defiant when I asked him why he needs that particular tone. I texted myself from my work phone and said "see? I'm now aware of a text that I have received and it didn't annoy the frick out of everybody around me."

Call it what you want...with the way phones vibrate these days, I never have take my phone off silent. It's plenty loud enough on vibrate.

Went fishing over the weekend and the guide's text tone was Ricky Bobby's kid saying "I'M ALL JACKED UP ON MOUNTAIN DEW!" It was funny the first couple of times, but he got over 200 texts both days we were with him. Very obnoxious.

I ripped the Marshawn Lynch "GET OFF ME, CHILDS PLAY!".

It always seems to get a laugh. That being said, my phone is on vibrate 99.9% of the time.

One of the HR ladies is across the hall from me and her ringtone is so loud I can hear it even with my door closed.

Ring tone: The Big Bang Theory theme. Text tone: Hunger Games whistle

And she's apparantly popular because her phone is going off all damn day.

Pure. fricking. Torture.

I'll never understand why people don't switch to vibrate/silent when they're literally staring at their phone nonstop in either an airport/waiting room/etc. The point of a ring is to alert you when you're away from your phone. Some people are just totally oblivious to the world around them. There was a girl I went to school with who would always have her phone on full blast in the library and it would go off CONSTANTLY. She would always silence it and apologize if you confronted her, but the fact that she had to be told astounded me

I have the bosun's whistle from Star Trek. Very brief, but distinctive.
