Asking for a co-worker/ friend . He has joint custody and pays child support. He is a great dad to his kids and works two jobs While his ex is a lazy POS. Do anyone of you that have joint custody pay child support or knows someone that does? ... doesn't sound fair at all

Child support is the fleecing of America's men.

I have 50/50 custody and pay no child support.

Just half of mutual things like doctors visits or uniforms.

ETA: Not being financially raped each month definitely helps with being able to have a fairly amicable relationship with my ex when it comes to co-parenting.

I know guys who have good jobs and have to work a second job on the side to survive because child support and alimony eat up all their primary income.

I have a friend who is in this exact same boat. Your friend is fricked.

That old saying couldn't be more true. Its cheaper to keep her.

Nothing about a divorce ruling is fair to the non-custodial parent.

I'll just end my rant before it begins or I will have to go break something.

He should do like my cousin's ex husband. He claims he doesn't have a job, thus he doesn't have to pay child support.

Oh, and he lives in a $1500/month apartment.

Many who post in this thread share the same sentiment.

Let your friend know it only gets better. He's paying child support now. At some point his kids will be driving. Then he will be paying for child support, drivers ed,car, car insurance and half of everything else :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

All the time. There is a formula that is used. Judges must abide by this

This is Louisiana.... Nothing is fair to the fathers side. They are looked upon as POS in the courts eyes.

Sorry the way it is. She will have control over everything until the kid/s are 18 unless she places their lives in danger. That's jus the way it is.

He is a male. Females are weak creatures that require monetary support for their entire lives.

Former co-worker had something similar happen to his daughter. After her ex got put on child support he quit his job so he wouldn't have to pay. She took him back to court and judge gave him certain amount of time to get another job and get back on schedule with his support payments or told him he'd be put in jail. Happened probably 6-7 years ago so I don't remember details, but it was in LA fwiw

Even with joint custody, one parent is usually designated primarily domicilliary. That parent pays child support. It is usually according to a table based on each parents income.

I somehow convinced my ex to accept a lower, more reasonable amount and the judge was ok with it.
