Meant to pose this question the last time I drove through Monroe.

It's not a secret the State of Louisiana could use more fundages and such. In addition to the astronomical number of State-funded universities we already have, please tell me why we need two within 60 miles apart in the State's least densely populated and most economically depressed corner?

I've heard that ULM has pharmacy. Roll that into Louisiana Tech, as far as I understand, Louisiana's only other Tier One public university next to LSU.

Besides, if you haven't ever met a ULM student, they're not exactly setting the world on fire.

That place is about 2 or 3 chin beards away from being a community college, anyway.

Anyone care to provide insight from a state administration level? I'd take this to the Poliboard, but the election has got everybody's blood up over there.

This alone should ensure their existence forever.

ULM is THE University of Louisiana.

What more else is there to say?

You really should look into taking one of their English composition courses.

The rise of NLU/ULM was all about one thing. Jealousy of Tech. No other reason.

OP you are one judgemental SOB. ULM has one of the top Construction Mgt programs in the US, a great pharmacy program and their water ski team has won multiple National Championships. For those that prefer a smaller school in those areas, it serves the purpose.

I guess this thread didn't go as planned.

While we're at it, we need to cut ULM, Nicholls State, Southern and Grambling. At a minimum. That's just the starting point.

Might as well throw in LSU-E, LSU-A, SUNO, and SU-S into the mix as well for shutting down.

AGREED

Also, Im in the industry and can tell you from hiring. ULMs Const. Mgmt program is shite.

Tech's CET program is head and shoulders above it.
