Headed to the Hard Rock in 5 weeks. How is it? Do you end leaving the HR grounds much?

Your agent is ripping you off. A good agent would have a price beat guarantee. She's making like 18% commission and you should be able to negotiate.
Most important pre pay the tourist card $10pp. This will save you an hour wait apon arrival.

It's pretty damn awesome. The group I was with were VIP members, so I got the perks of that, which made it a little better. The biggest perk of that were the exclusive pools, fewer people = faster service.
There are like 7 restaurants on the property, most of them are good. The italian one 'Ciao' wasn't too impressive. Toro is the regular steakhouse, we did that one twice, once really good, once not so good. They also have a brazilian steak house 'Impanema', I liked that one a lot. Isla and Toro are good for breakfast.
The pool in front of Isla isn't exclusive, but wasn't too crowded and has a swim up bar, which the exclusive ones didn't. The service there is very good though overall.
And there is as much Presidente beer as you can drink.

Costco travel was very legit.
Booking through resort was way too high.
Airfare was airfare. (But did find flight of out of BR instead of NOLA and both connected in Atalnta anyway.
Expedia and the like were fine and was with Costco Travel as the front runners before deciding on letting an agent plan and make sure everything was included, taken care of, upgraded, and do all the research.

Don't go through one of those sites - you'll be a customer of someone else not the resort.
Why can't you book VIA their website?

No because I showed her some of the prices I was finding and she started singing in a different key.

I wouldn't have booked with her if that is the case.

Just got back from the Hard Rock in Punta Cana, be prepared, that airport is a zoo.
The airport was hilarious in 2008. The entire thing literally has a thatch roof. That does not seem safe.
Also all of the planes line up and drop you off. Looks like buses outside of a mall. They just needed destination signs taped to the noses. Looks very ridiculous with 757's.
