I went there almost a decade ago. Booked the room directly through the resort and the flights through the airline. I think we got shuttle service from airport to resort and back through the resort.

Wife and myself are planning one next year to the same area. Can't remember the resort. Going through the travel agent at work. $899 per person.

Just went a month ago. Used a travel agent because I went with a group and it was easier. No need to use one otherwise. Let me know if you want any opinions/questions answered.

Both figures above are for airfare, mine out of BR hers out of Nola, room, all inclusive and same resort (Paradisus)

That price doesn't sound right. We flew out of Houston and went for 4 nights and it was about $2900 for my wife and I. That was through a travel agent. I could have saved about $200 using Expedia but I would have been on different flights than my group. The whole resort is all inclusive btw. There is not an option for that.

People from the US pay thousands of dollars to visit the Dominican Republic. People from the DR flee the country in rickety boats in hopes of getting to the US.

There ain't no way in hell you are paying that little. That's less than $100 person per day. You can't even get that shite in a mid-size US city.....

Went there 8 years ago. I booked through their website. Airline separate. Saved a lot of money compared to a travel agent. Paradisus sent a shuttle. It was very easy. No reason to get an agent.
While we were there, there wasn't much reason to go off-site. We stayed 7 nights, all inclusive of course, Including flight, great beachfront room, less than $3k for 2 people.
