I recently purchased a new refrigerator for my house. My wife wanted a new fridge but I also figured I would get an outside beer cooler out of the deal. The problem is that the refrigerator keeps tripping the GCFI on my outlet outside. What can I do to fix this. I have heard about a snubber but was wondering if anyone had any luck with these.

quote:

There are devices called snubbers that can be used to reduce, or eliminate the effects of EMI. Installing one between the fridge and the GFCI device, could prevent nuisance trips. The best solution though, is to connect the fridge to a non-GFCI protected circuit.

Where is your breaker panel. Mine's in the garage, so I just put in a new breaker and ran a plug for the fridge from it.

GCFIs fail. I would try to replace it. That's what I did in my garage.

Replace the GFCI outlet with a regular outlet. Just make sure that you change it back out before your inspector comes around when you decide to sell.
