Fees include:

Braces
All appointments
Any repairs
Any emergency visits outside normal business hours
Retainers
1 year worth of services after braces are removed

What price would you expect to pay (for those that have been through this before with young children)?

** In Baton Rouge area **

Make sure you go to someone that uses suresmile. Better results and much quicker than traditional braces. It's borderline criminal that or this still do it the old fashion way when there are much better options for the patient.

just cut a check for just under $4k in December for my daughters braces. and that was after $1250 that my insurance covered.

will cover the whole process and we were told she would have braces for about 22-24 months.

EDIT: we used Fruge here in BR

Don't do it. Not only are you going to save money on the braces, but that extra ear of corn on the cob you save at family dinners adds up.

Time value of money, son!

I'd say probably in the 6-7K range.

I think my parents paid like 5600 up front when I had them which was damn near 20 years ago now. Was in and out for appointments with x-rays, cleanings, and a bunch of other shite for over 2 years....never paid a dime after the first payment. I went most of the time by myself.

ETA I forgot to mention I did have to have 2 teeth extracted and some other bone adjustments in my mouth too...I'm sure that added some to that.

ETA2 What I'm getting at is that it might be lower depending on your situation.

I should have worn my retainer, lost that shite in college now I have a tooth that moved on the bottom. Probably start a HSA next year and get it fixed. I'm hoping it's only a few grand after insurance.

After insurance discount and benefit, plus cash discount, I'm looking right at $3,600 out the door, so I think we're receiving a very fair price from a highly rated orthodontist.

Be sure to incorporate the "If I" tactic when negotiating.

The “If I” sales tactic. This is the last step in the sales negotiation process. Ex. If I decide to buy my kid braces, you have to include free bleach treatments for my family.

The orthodontist knows you are in a buying mode and doesn’t want to run the risk of you becoming a “be back” customer for another dentist since most people buy within 48 hours of stepping into a dentist office.

Your insurance may vary from mine but it was $1200 out of pocket, up front. This was 5-6 years ago.

I paid similar. Our OOP was around $3,000 and our insurance paid $1500. She only had to wear her set for a year but will have to have another set before high school that she'll wear longer.

We used Sherman and Balhoff. I like both of them but really like Balhoff.

It included all visits, maintenance and retainers.
