Third Person: On [Off]

I've been doing Stronglifts for about 4-5 months now and I would like to branch out.

I liked Stronglifts because it laid out everything that I had to do, including weight.

I just feel that I've hit the peak as far as what I can get out of it.

Looking for some advice.

Thanks.

take a week off. Drop the weights a little. Restart. See from there.

Not a bad idea. I would also like to branch out to more than just the workouts that are specified in Stronglifts. I don't like deadlift for one.

My form is probably bad. I just don't like the strain on my back.

Have you tried deadlifts with a hex bar?

Good advice because Scruffy doesn't need to stop doing deads. Scruffy needs to check his form too because it may be shite.

Consider Kettlebell training to take the place of your deadlifting component of your workout (and as it is called the "what the hell" strength gains)

Below is a great site for all things strength related (Kettlebell regimens outline there nicely)

Done it before. I like it more, but they don't have one at my gym.

I figure my form is shite.

Unknownknight, don't have a way to PM you.

He's been working out a few months and you're already calling for an entire week of rest? Cmon man. I dont think I've ever taken a week off "just because" unless my body didn't feel right etc

I know some people think its a cult but this 41 year old thinks that cross fit is far and away the very best workout you can get and will serve you well until the day you die. Standard weight training philosophy as promoted throughout the last 40 years was designed by people like Arnold who were consuming massive amounts of steroids. The body was not designed to exercise while seated or lying down and isolation exercises are completely counter intuitive to the human anatomy.

Not saying cross fit is the only way but for someone who is just starting out it is the best way. I've been working with weights since I was 14 by the way. I'm totally ripped as you can imagine...but please don't.
