By branch/MOS/rating/billet/division of your choice, what's the best way to identify stolen valor (ignoring the obvious 32 ribbons out of order on a 23 year old Vietnam vet). I'll start.

US Submarine Force: start singing the submarine song, if they can't finish it might be stolen valor.

If the guy isn't a douche bag attention whore, then he's probably not a vet.

I think if you were to use one of the 1,000 acronyms the military comes up with, but purposefully use it incorrectly, and the guy doesn't say anything and goes along with it, then he's full of shite.

Or, you can just ignore the clown.

I think we suck off the military too much... A lot of them deserve our praise, but a lot of them do not

Yeah.

Idgaf about stolen valor. Steal it. frick it. Everybody is getting everything for free these days and my family gets up early everyday for work to pay for it all.

Best part is, the harder you work and the more you make, the more the govt takes.

I just assume all valor is stolen. The burden of proof is on them, and until I see documentation, I don't quit screaming.

Ask them if they are carrying their military bearing.

Stolen Valor cases are stupid! If I was trying to lie about a military record to get discounts, I wouldn't make myself out to be some billy badass where I would get a bunch of questions. Just be some E-4 with no combat patch assigned to a division. Keep it as broad as possible, that way the questions stay at a minimum.
