Looking to update the master bath & kitchen. Current cast iron is 2" throughout house. I believe current code is 3".

Would we need to upgrade the entire plumbing system in order to expand the master bath and rearrange the kitchen layout?

Do you plan to do the upgrade yourself?

If you are pulling a permit then probably yes if not then roll with it.

If it were me I would upgrade anyway and get rid of as much cast iron as possible.

Ok to keep the vents cast iron but I'd change all the waste to PVC/ABS.

If you are in a code area you will need inspection- so find out what the code is in your area.
