50 Gallon, gas fired, just went out. Need to have a pan added. How much am I looking at? North Dallas.

If it's hot water it doesn't need to be heated.
It's a water heater.
It's a water heater.

I was quoted $1400 for a 50 gallon installed a week or so ago. You can buy the heater for less than $400.

About 50 gallons of water all over your floor.

I replaced my hot water heater a few months ago. Also replaced the hoses for the water and gas and the ball valve on the fill line. I think it was around $400 total.

At least this response is funny if it is not going to be helpful. Luckily a slow leak so far, dreading the bottom dropping out. It is in the garage, so should not be completely awful. Turned off the water to it.

Not trying to be funny. Trying to help you out. But continue looking and sounding like the village idiot.

99% of the time it's just the thermocouple. Literally a $10 par that takes a novice 30 minutes to do and you do not fool with the gas at all, except to relight the pilot.

If you aren't coppered or pvc'd in place it isn't that hard. If you don't know how to solder, then you can cut the old pipes and install shark bite fittings and then use braided water lines to connect to the tank. Doing this only requires four tools as well (pipe wrench, sawszall, sharkbite flare tool {$10} and a hand truck to move the heater in and out)
