OT parents with children in schools. Would you consider this unreasonable?

I have a policy of deducting points off of assignments when the students write in the margins or don't follow the instructed format.
I also deduct points for assignments turned in crumpled, folded up, or stained.
I always preach the importance of being neat and professional to my students. I have never had a problem with parents complaining about this until this year. While I have zero plans to change my rules, I would like some unbiased feedback.
What do you guys think?

What grade are we talking about here?

Assuming middle school and up? Just fine.

Crumpled, stained, alright...
Folded? Come on man.
Folded? Come on man.

I think that if the guidelines are laid out then they should be followed. Do you by chance work in a district where perhaps paper is limited or not easily accessible for students at home, ie a lower income school?

Paper is the past everything is digital no one writes shite down anymore. Get with the times

You're gonna be forced to change this policy. You're not being inclusive of sloppy kids.

As long as you're expectations are clear from the beginning.

If it's elementary you may be asking a little much, if it's 6th grade and up, you are fine.

No, this is not an issue here.

All very reasonable as long as the rules were clear on the syllabus.

Students have the option to type out and turn in their assignments. They generally do not.
For research papers or essays they can type them out or email me their final copy.

I dont see a problem with it.

As a loving parent, I'd probably give you a warning the first time you tried to take off points for that kinda shite. The second time I'd probably meet you in the parking lot.

I don't have a problem with it unless a dog really did eat their homework.
