Still cold when idling but barely any air blowing out. Once you start driving faster it blows normal strength..

TIA

This exact same thing happened in my truck last year, I couldn't remember exactly what it was that went out, but I do remember it was about a $300 fix.

How difficult is that to replace yourself?

I was leaning towards the long hard shaft needing a re-tooling.

Not this, if it's still cold.

What kind of vehicle? Sounds like the baffle on the air control diverter is going out. In some vehicles, the diverter is controlled by a vacuum line. You could have a small leak in a vacuum hose which would still be able to function at higher rpm's pulling a stronger vacuum.

Do a google search on your year/make/model and include a/c blower problems and see what you may find. Could be an easy fix.

It's the fan motor out. It's not spinning the fan when at idle. When you get up speed the wind spins the fan making it blow.

Yup, but ask for an HVAC blower motor. If you say fan motor, they'll probably hook you up with a radiator fan motor.

Could be the blower motor resistor. I just changed mine a few days ago. Cost me around $50.

Not sure if this Is a serious response. You may be confusing the cooling fan with the blower.

It could be the resister on the blower motor as was mentioned in the other post, but it'll usually go out completely for particular fan speeds. Unlikely to cut in and out with the rpm of the engine.

My truck would blow at certain speeds for a while and then they all stopped working. You could barely feel the A/C when idling but it would blow a little more when driving. When I pulled the resistor I found that the connector that goes to the blower motor had melted. I changed both and I'm back in business. Changing the resistor was really easy, but rewiring that connector sucked donkey balls.

Is this the part?

That's the resistor.

So I would need something else to go with it?

Yep, happened with my beater truck a while back. Drove it like that for 2 years. Getting stuck in traffic in the summer was awful.

It has a vacuum leak bro. Check for the vacuum line under the hood running thru the firewall on the passenger side. That vacuum line controls the baffle door inside of the evaporator case. The fan isn't reducing its speed, when the door moves it's redirecting the air thru all of the vents. Floor, dash and defrosters

Ok so try to find a hole in the vaccum line? Its rubber I assume? If I find a hole do I just rig it with tape or replace the entire line?

thanks

This is the answer if the air is only cold when driving at speed. But that doesn't appear to be the problem. This is a fan issue. Probably better for the OP. I think when my compressor went out like this on my Silverado in college, it was over 2k to repair. I ended up just selling the truck.
