OT Mechanic Help - Actuator Motors

Here's the situation...my daughter has a 2012 Nissan Maxima with about 65K miles on it. Daughter advises that the drivers side automatic lock quit working. She comes home from LSU about two weeks later and none of the automatic locks are working. Brought to Nissan dealer and they tell her that all of the actuator motors are broken and need to be replaced....a total of about 2,000 to fix all.....WTH???
Googled this problem and it seems that it does in fact occur, but all 4 doors within a two week period??
What says the OT mechanics?? I've owned 3 infiniti (high end Nissans) and never had anything go wrong with any of the cars.

Giles Nissan is as crooked as a snake. Take it elsewhere

I had a Cadillac (2008) that had all 4 actuators replaced under warranty and then 2 more later on.
Not uncommon at all. Driver's door goes first, for obvious reasons.

Dealer is obviously going to rake you over the coals. Take it to another mechanic and get an estimate, or if you are handy search youtube, buy a part from rockauto.com and fix only one of them yourself first to see if that's the problem. If it still doesn't fix it, the problem is electrical somewhere else.

Shouldn't be $2,000....... I'd get someone else to look at it.

Most likely it's the door panel where the locks are. That part from a junk dealer on Ebay is around $70. We had a problem with the windows on one side of the car. This fixed it.

Each one of those should be around $70-$100... so probably $400 or less in parts.
$1600 labor seems ridiculously high. I'll do it for $1000.

What part on panel Broke?
Having an issue with window on wife's van right now. At first the window, power door, and driver side mirror all stopped working then all but window started working again
Was going to order window motor but that parts pretty high if I can try something else out first

A good way to tell if this switch panel is bad is by trying the switches on the other side of the car (window and door lock). If they work, then it's that drivers side panel.

most likely door panel switch. OP,get a test light and back probe the harness connectors under the switch panel. You'll find out what bad. Could also be a module for the interior gone bad as well.

Thanks for all the info. I'm not very handy and might need to take it to a "shade tree mechanic" for an analysis.

I highly doubt all 4 actuators went out at the same time. It's something else. This dealership is fricking you.

Agreed.
The ones that I had fail, did not fail simultaneously. They all failed pretty close together though.
GM's lock actuators and door handles were crap in that period, though. (2007-2014)

I'm in Lafayette. To be clear, they didn't all fail at once. Drivers side went out, then a couple of days later passenger side, then the two back doors went out (which is how my daughter described it to me).

I'm betting on failed actuators.
Whatever you do, buy new parts. The labor to change them is the PITA, not the actual part cost.

All four? Must be tons of traffic in that back seat

That's Giles Nissan. Trust me on this one.
