Wow.... Would you be livid?

So he uses HIS player card, it's his money used in the bet. He get's his "friend" (girl) to spin the slots for good luck!

For her it was great, him.... not so much.

quote:

The then-friends gambled on Flato’s player’s card, but he was in for a surprise when it was time to collect the winnings. “Upstairs, the eye in the sky says, ‘She touched the button, so technically, we have to pay her,’” he recalled. “I said, are you kidding me?”

They were not kidding. She takes the money and walks out.

quote:

Flato says Navarro took the $100,000. “I said,” Marina, what are you doing?’ And she gets up and walks out.”

Not only did he not get the 100K, he lost the 50$ he spent on the bet!

Then she had the nerve to text him this!

quote:

Weeks later, she allegedly sent Flato a text message asking, "Still hate me?" He responded, "How could you do that to me?" And her response? "I miss you."

It's not the wrong board. Already posted it there. Let's make it about politics.

What the hell kinda laws does FL have??

yea. At that point she could kiss my fat white arse. He's handling it much, much more rationally than I would be. $100k wouldn't exactly change my life, but frick, that's not exactly chump change.

I'm not sure at this point there would be a chance for reconciliation.

This is normal. Whoever hits the button has to get paid.

The story here is that she walked with it.

I'd say that's pretty normal. By letting her play the machine, he basically gave her his money to put place the bet. She placed the bet....and she won. No matter what, there is legal ramifications. Even if she gives him the money, she's going to be on the hook for the taxes. They have to define who the winner is, and the winner is the person who plays the game. Doesn't matter where the money for the bet came from...unless it's stolen, which it was not in this case.

Doesn't mean she isn't a terrible person for what she did. Just legally, she isn't wrong to do so.

Nope...my niece is the top slot host at a major LA casino. Basically, she's the one who pays out jackpots. There are a ton of variables being overlooked. The casinos are constantly seeing a person with a card, asking players if they can insert there card for the points. Crap like that.
If the girl would have said it's his money, the casino would have paid him.

Yea and if she had paid the taxes then given him the remainder he would have had to pay a gift tax.

So he would have gotten maybe 40k in the end.

She should have requested that the casino pay him and I'm sure they could have done that if she asked them to. Only way I could see this possibly having been resolved

I'm not saying that is not the case but Louisiana can do things one way and Florida is allowed to have their own laws as well.

Yeah - the 'who gets paid" decision is based only on that.

All other considerations are between the parties involved - not the casino. Not their job to play 'god' or 'solomon' to decide how to share the baby.

yep - pure greed and lack of honor.

That actually happened to me on a 3K jackpot I hit. I was playing a $1 slot and befriended a couple. We decided to go in 50/50 and alternate turns. His wife had the winning spin and that's when things went sour. They knew the routine, I didn't. They got all of it lol.

I cannot imagine any rationale for why this was considered a wise thing to do = unless your were really good friends and knew each other's character intimately.

wait - wouldn't there be a verbal contract about 'sharing the winnings?' - at least implied???

I don't know...

I was on a blackjack table and I had a split so I pony'd up the money and then split again. this happened 3 more times, and by I think the second set of splits, I had all my chips on the table. A buddy floated me the rest, and as luck would have it, all bets paid out.

I paid my friend back, along with a good amount over for helping me out. Not everyone is a goon out there.

full disclosure: it wasn't OT money at risk.
