Haven't seen one of these yet. I've read that it's about time to put down a 3-1-2 formula fertilizer but I can't find anything with this ratio. What is the OT doing for lawn fertilization? I've put down preemergent and as a result of doing this for a few years, I do not have a lot of weeds... Therefore no weed and feed needed.

Weed and feed went down yesterday. I have too much shade in my yard, it's a pain to keep the grass going in some spots. Not to mention I have a mole problem.

Home Depot will have the weed and feed popular in your area, hit it after the rain stops with enough to cover.

Get a bottle of Roundup and directly treat any visible weeds.

It's somewhat hard to find phosphorous (middle number) in fertilizer due to environmental concerns. You can find it in starter fertilizer if your lawn is low on phosphorous (would need a soil test). Also, what type of grass matters. For example, if you have Bermuda, it loves nitrogen and you need to make sure you are putting enough down.

I put out pre-emurgent, lime, and slow release fertilizer 2 weeks ago. Spot sprayed weeds. Grass seed in the fall. Weed and feed later this spring.

^ Listen to that guy.

I would only recommend a pre-emergent right now. Your grass hasn't been dormant as long as it normally would be during a normal winter, give it another couple weeks.

I have 10 years of training & experience with these types of chemicals. I've seen countless people kill or damage their lawns, most due to laziness or ignorance.

75% of them either don't water their fertilizer in enough, at all, or put it down and think they can wait 8 hours for the rain to water it in.

Good luck

Same here. My neighbor filed a claim with the company that made the bag and they paid him for the cost of new sod ($2k).

Said they mislabeled or misfiled the bags with the wrong stuff and it cost them tons. I was too lazy to file a claim. Just dealt with a shitty looking lawn for the first half of the season.

Put down pre emergent two weeks ago. Scalped my yard and bagged it to get rid of dead winter grass. Waiting to fertilize.

Use a weed and feed containing atrazine if your grass is St Aug.

Weed and feed is a convience product only. The "weed" portion, which is just a selective herbicide like atrazine or trimec, is best applied late feb early March before grass breaks dormancy. The "feed" or fertilizer portion is best applied after the grass breaks from dormancy which depending on the type of grass and condition could be now through April. If you try to do them at the same time you end up in a bad spot as it is either too early or late for one of the products.

fertilization schedule

I've been somewhat following Randy Lemmon's schedule for several years now. As I mentioned in the OP, I cannot find many of the formulations of fert he calls for this time of year, fort in the 3-1-2 ratios. Any ideas?
