Hello all. First time homeowner and recently moved into my home. I have been getting pitched by so many pest control companies and am wondering what is the OT's take on this. I currently do not have any problems other than small spiders outside and wasp trying to house on my shhhhheeeeett. Do you pay to have this service done quarterly or do you do it yourself? Thanks!

I keep mine done mostly by myself. Last year we had a bad flea infestation in the basement. I tried bug bombs, flea spray, even Diatomaceous earth. Nothing was getting rid of them. We had a neighborhood group rate on a mosquito spray company, and they were able to finally knock out the fleas inside, and at least cut down on them outside. I loved having the wife and kids be able to go out in the back and not be swarmed with them so we renewed this year. They spray every 3 weeks and to get the rate you only have to commit to like 6 sprayings. Today they came for the 3rd time. By the time Aug/Sep rolls around we'll cancel for the year.

But we've never had any issues with ants/roaches/spiders. Just the big jug of concentrate you can get at Home Depot and a garden sprayer will keep all of that in check for cheap. I spray maybe every other month, and it takes 10-15 minutes.

I own a pest control company.

Chadboy is spot on.

Also, putting granules in your lawn every quarter will help a lot too. Cross Check 0 0 7 is what I use most.

Not stuntman, but I use the spectricide product from lowes or homedepot in the bottle that you hook up to the hose and it works pretty good.

How often do you apply and how many jugs of Talstar do you use during that time? I see on Amazon Talstar pro 3/4 gal (96 ounces). Does this get pretty much everything? Thanks!

Do you do an inside treatment at the same time or just the spectracide outside?

I use two products; nylar and Cross Check liquid. The Cross Check will kill the adults and the nylar will keep the rest from developing into adults.

I purchased for mosquito control. Has worked rather well so far. Have not used for termites as some people do.

i just do the outside treatment for fleas. I dont have to buy expensive flea pills for my dogs so it saves money. One bottle of the spectricide covers 5k sq ft so I have to use 2 bottles to get the whole yard.

The talstar bottle on amazon will last you a lifetime.

The mixture is different depending on what you're spraying for. I spray for mosquito control, which is 1 oz concentrate for every gallon of water. Covers 1,000 sq ft. Even applying once a month, it will last you a good while.
