As a kid I watched both of his shows, but especially liked the after school show that featured Little Rascals episodes. How many other boarders watched? Could a show like this make it today?

Hell yeah I did.

I'm sure the fact that he's a white guy with the moniker "Buckskin Bill" would immediately cause an enormous amount of Jimmy rustling these days.

Modern cartoons are much higher paced. Buckskin couldn't compete with Sponge Bob (I don't let the kids watch SB).
Buckskin could possibly make it if you amped up the show with Mountain Dew and Cocaine.

That being said, I've been showing the kids some of the classic Popeye and Disney cartoons found on Netflix. They absolutely love them.

Hell yes I watched Buckskin Bill. I had to go outside and turn the TV antenna towards Baton Rouge and watch it in grainy black and white.

Good times

Yep. My kids liked the old Tom and Jerry and 70's era Bugs Bunny more than modern cartoons.

I moved to BR as a little kid circa 1977 and I don't recall an afternoon Buckskin Bill show....just the morning show. Was I late to the party on the afternoon show?

And I don't think such a show would make it today...which is unfortunate.

The Bugs Bunny/Looney Tunes cartoons were the GOAT. Yosemite Sam was the man.

Watched it every day. Was on it several times, once for my birthday. Contributed to the purchase of the elephant for the BR Zoo, Penny. Sid Crocker was Senor Puppet. IRL, Buckskin was a bit of a curmudgeon.

I can't tell you the year channel 9 stopped airing it, but there was positively an afternoon show. 3:30

I made a few appearances as well as a kid.

Bill Black also taught one of my journalism classes at LSU in the late 80's.

Ah yes...the Bozo Show and the Grand Prize Game. His sidekick was Cookie, right?
