Hope everyone's having a good week, it's been plenty busy for me. Noticed the airlines are having early fall sales and some aren't too bad, specifically the Seattle and DC options.

MSY-SEA $264: Last week of August, September, October, November and first week of December. Mostly on Delta, a few flights on United.

MSY-DAL $82: For May and June on Southwest. It's around $131 on American.

MSY-FLL $136: Random dates in June, July, August, September, October and November on Southwest. Mostly Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays

MSY-DCA $177: Last two weeks of August, September, October, November, and first two weeks of December on US Airways and Southwest. Might be a good option for anyone trying to go to the syracuse game that hasn't been to DC before (6 hour drive up I-81).

Enjoy

Thanks for these fares, the MSY SEA is tough because Alaska has the NS daily, I hate making a connection when I know there is a NS alternative.

BTW, I still haven't booked my FRA trip yet for next month, I'm thinking about a stopover for 36-48 hours on the way back in Iceland. Any comments or Iceland-experienced folks here?

(MSY-JFK?-FRA; FRA-KEF then KEF-JFK?-MSY)? Iceland Air for about $2k in mid-June.

Icelandair allows you do a stopover of up to 7 days.

Airfare is not cheap this summer to europe that's for sure. For the stopover, I haven't been but I'd definitely try to stay for 48 hours. 36 hours would not be enough time for me to visit a foreign country that I'll likely never get to see again.

Southwest is definitely your best option if going from MSY in May or June. Price jumps up a lot come July, should be another week or two until those prices drop (hopefully)

Cuse: Thanks for your advice and sharing your knowledge here. I'll try to make it at least 48 hours, the nekkid co-ed geo-thermal spa time there is worth further in-depth investigation.

Foxx: Thanks for the link, the only problem with Iceland Air is I'm traveling with a companion on the way over and hate to make them have to have the interim stopover in Iceland with me outbound. I'll see if I can do Delta or Continental outbound and the Iceland Air flights inbound at least to JFK. Cheers!

That MSY-SEA flight is a solid for a cheap DL MQM run.

US Air Sat July 25-Sat Aug 1st $206 on US Airways. Tuesday-Tuesday on Frontier is $178 or $199 on US. You're lucky Frontier just started this route, airfare used to be much higher with just US and United.

Thanks, do you know much about Frontier? I'll have to read up on them.

I don't know, but Google Flights is my guess.

Type where you want to fly from.. leave the destination space blank. It shows a map of the US and each city has a price on it. You can play around with the dates until you find a price you like.

I have some free time in a few months when I want to take a trip. I had no idea where I wanted to go, and Google Flights made the decision for me.

I saw that, main reason why I posted it. If I could page baconismeatcandy or golfer I would. Looks like it's almost every day come the fall, can do a same day return MSY-LAX-SEA-ATL-MSY for 5228 miles.

A combination of google flights and southwest's website.

If you read up on them, you will not want to fly them . They're cheap, get you from point A to point B, but will charge you $5 for each seat, $20 for a bag, $3 a soda, etc. I'd probably just stick with US Airways if they're only $20 more in case of bad weather or any delays.

We've taken Spirit to Vegas, it wasn't that bad. All I ask is getting from A to B

Will probably use US if it's $20 difference like you said though.

Haven't done it yet but DC to Reykjavik is $99 apparently. So I may be making that trip soon
