Almost halfway through the week everyone . My travel advice for thanksgiving tickets is to book them very soon (within the next two or three weeks) if you haven't booked already. Tickets will only go up after that point. Also, now's the time to start looking for christmas and new years deals.
Cheap flight schedules are out until the end of february now so if you know you want to go someplace over mardi gras just take a look and see if it's reasonable. Any requests let me know
New Orleans to:
Chicago: $87 on United or Southwest, $144 on American. First three weeks of November, first three weeks of December, then lots of january and early february.
Miami: $119 on American for two departure dates (Jan 13 or 20), then it's $151 for most other tuesdays and wednesdays in january and february
Orlando: $168 on United, $180 on Delta, $266 on Southwest. First two weeks of November, first three weeks of December, then Tuesdays Wednesdays Saturdays in January. Southwest has good availability around christmas and new years surprisingly
San Antonio: $164 on American, $170 on Delta. Dec 2, 5, 15, then most of january and february
Charlotte: $188 on Delta. First two weeks of November, Thanksgiving week available!, first two weeks of December, then all of January and February
Tampa: $163 on American, $170 on Delta. A few saturday departures in November and December, then mostly january and february
Fort Lauderdale: $165 on American or United, $180 on Delta. Nov 4, Dec 5, Jan 5, 9, 23, 26
Austin: $164 on American or United. Mostly departures on Wednesdays or Thursdays first two weeks of November, December, or January
Washington DC: $177 on United or American. Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat first two weeks of November, december or january
NYC: $197 on Delta, $213 on American or United. First two weeks of November or December.
Baton Rouge to:
Atlanta: $162 on American or United. First three weeks of November or December, all of January and most of February
Charlotte: $188 on Delta. First two weeks of November, Thanksgiving week available!, first two weeks of December, then all of January and February

Thanks Cuse. How do you always find these awesome deals?
Posted on 10/20/15 at 4:55 pm to Delacroix
Google flights browsing. Today someone on flyertalk mentioned a cheap first class ticket on delta for NYC-Cancun December/January for $435 roundtrip so I figured I should look around
ETA: And that deal is dead now of course

Go at offpeak times, if you can swing a Wednesday-Wednesday that will likely be cheaper than Saturday-Saturday, keep an eye on what prices are now then you can use your judgment later to see if it's close to what you were expecting.
Example, the middle of January a wednesday-wednesday for MSY to trinidad and tobago is $392, aruba is $430, etc. If you see prices at $800 or $900 look elsewhere

Google flights is amazing. I would not have been able to go to NYC (for LSU @ Syracuse game) and then fly down to Charlotte the Sunday morning for the Saints game without it.

Oh yeah google flights is my go to with looking up any flights. The fact that I can book most airlines (except southwest) directly through the link there saves me some time. You could probably go see the redskins saints game outside DC for cheap if you look now
ETA: Yeah it's $185 Saturday-Monday MSY-IAD

Chicago and NYC are the most appealing, do I just go through the airline or kayak?

For United, Delta or American I'd say use google flights to book through the airline. Otherwise check on southwest's calendar feature

Memphis to Vegas on allegiant is $114 roundtrip. Allegiant only has two flights a week (mondays or fridays) but for that price i'd go in a heartbeat.
Nashville probably has some deals on Southwest every once in a while

Well I'm finding New Orleans to San Fran for $538 on United, Baton Rouge to San Fran is $512. MSY-SFO
Not real cheap but those two days are some of the most expensive of the year to travel
