GlassesShop. Wait for a special.

Make sure to ask your doc to measure your PD.

ReplaceALens.com in Denver. Seiko and Shamir. Excellent. Buy your own frames, send them in for lenses.

How do you go about getting your prescription? Will my optometrist office give it to me if I were to ask? Surely they would know at that time is be taking my business elsewhere.

It's your medical records. They have to give them to you. Same goes for any doctor.

Warby Parker is junk.

Framesdirect is far better.

I've used them both.

Just tell the doc that you are interested in shopping around for your new glasses and would like to get a written prescription.

Isn't there something that they measure when fitting glasses beyond the prescription from the ophthalmologist? How is that accomplished online

Adjunct question: I do a lot of computer work -- OK I surf a lot of TD -- anyway do I understand correctly that I getting a prescription optimized specifically for starting at a PC screen will help with eyestrain?

If online glasses are such a value, maybe I should get separate scrips for driving, close-in work and general purpose. What say TD?

Got some from zenni for $18 shipped

I only wear glasses at night before I go to bed or if my contacts are bothering me, Zenni is fine for that purpose.

Definitely Zenni. At about 30 dollars a pair (average) you can go through two or three styles and home in on the exact style you like and still pay more than 200 bucks less than you would from the regular brick and mortar places. Places like Eyemasters and Lenscrafters better re-think their prices or they're gonna get run out of business.

I use Zenni Optical and have nothing but wonderful things to say.

Just keep in mind your doctor probably won't give you your PD so you'll need to measure it at home. Do it yourself and also get someone else to do it on you. Even do it several times over the span of a few days for good measure.
