What is the open carry law in Louisiana?
A guy that I work with just moved here doesn't believe me about open carry. So can someone elaborate on this for me. Thanks

You can open carry, but you can't shoot protesters until they are on the street in front of your house.

You can open carry. No permit required.

There's no law that says you can't, so therefore you can. That's it.

Legal to open-carry in LA, but you are asking for trouble.

Open carry is fine...but if you shoot someone, a jury of your peers may force you to apologize for doing so.

Saw a guy open carry in Slidell Walmart this past Sunday. No problems.

People in AZ open carry like a mofo. Never felt weird about it.

Legal without permit to open carry except in bars, govt buildings, school zones, and places of business that opt post signs to prohibit firearms

It's more of a lack of law. But there are prohibited places to open carry.

Not a lack of law but you have a right to.

Also in AZ, if you shoot someone on your property, the state has to assume it was self defense and you were defending your property.
If police want to charge you, they have to prove you had ulterior motives for the shooting.

What was his reasoning that people wouldn't be able to use their 2nd amendment?

Likely because the Second Amendment has never been held to mandate allowance of open carry, and many states don't have the state constitutional protection that Louisiana does.

You can legally open carry in Louisiana.
If you do, I wouldn't go near a drop of alcohol though.

Also, for the love of god, don't post anything on FB that says "I'd shoot someone for that!" or anything else. That stuff will bite you in the arse if you do end up shooting someone.
In my conceal carry class, we went through a guy who got involved in a brutal lawsuit because he had something inflammatory etched on his gun and multiple social media posts about shooting peeps.
