Oil haters that keep denying that flagging oil prices have no effect on them can't keep their heads in the sand much longer.

quote:

"If Washington can bail out big banks and the auto industry, why not a bailout for oil companies? That's the new buzz, and we suspect this will become a huge issue as the U.S. energy industry faces massive layoffs and potential bankruptcies [...]

quote:

We're now at the point where the extremely low price of energy is becoming a clear negative for the economy and Wall Street — so who will begin talking about solutions? Chances of some type of Washington assistance will soon rise to 50% or better."

I guess small gov and less welfare are only good when the right doesn't need a hassle at their constituent doorstep

It's funny because USA is driving down oil prices by fracking, yet the government bails these companies out (who would likely go bankrupt), using tax payer dollars. Capitalism my arse.

Great. This will do nothing to help the laid off oilfield hands though. It will go into executive and investor pockets just like the bank bailouts.

At least execs will still be able to get their bonuses and take vacations.

Government Bailout of Oil Companies Becoming More Likely

You should edit your title. One guy suggested it as a possibilty, it's far from "likely"

Oh great, lets basically bailout the oil executives, but act like its bailing out all of these laid-off workers.
