Thats really sad. This is literally the first time I've ever heard of this happening.

Do airboats have thrust reverse capability?

no reverse.

the prop is spinning way too fast to reverse that quickly anyway.

I have a feeling I know exactly where this happened. from the area, people cut the corner there all the time.

I think he's suggesting variable pitch propeller.

It's where you can adjust the pitch to maximize efficiency like trim on an outboard. It would be possible to adjust the pitch so the same direction actually produces reverse thrust.
It'd be windy as a mother fricker though!
