Today marks the 201st Anniversary of The Battle of New Orleans
I suppose they will take down the statue of Andrew Jackson next right?

We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they begin to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

At this point, I really dont see the reason why they would take down the statue of Andrew Jackson. He is still remembered as the president who set the foundation of the Democratic Party.

I was told that if a historical figure did one bad thing as seen through the eyes of someone in the present, that figure is automatically an abomination.

Let's celebrate by destroying Andrew Jackson's statue.

Indianan casinos didn't like the twenty because it had Jackson on it.

According to a few members of the new Orleans city Council, the battle of new Orleans never happened it's a complete myth made up after the war.
No I'm not joking. 2 of our current city Council members said that last month.

I love history. It's important. You don't know it, you will repeat it.
When we meet at Sonic, I'll answer all you questions concerning history.

Here's a history nugget.
The treaty of Ghent was signed by both countries. However, it wasn't approved by either. The Brits wrote Packenham telling him to continue his effort to take NOLA.
