why the frick was he swinging his hands around like that? seems like he was inviting the tiger to start swiping at him.
also, it seems like someone in that crowd would have had a drink or something to throw at the tiger.

I guess he just froze up from terror. I would think that your best course of action would be to try to scare it away by making yourself appear bigger and going crazy as opposed to crouching down and getting as small as you can. If it came at you, fight like hell, go for its eyes, whatever. You've got nothing to lose. Not sure what I would do, except for the part where I wouldn't wind up in there with the fricking tiger in the first place.
