was any of this kneeling, en masse, and all that has come with it, did that happen before Trump decided to weigh in with his usual rhetoric?

no... there WAS kneeling, but it wasn't as widespread and as much an issue as it currently is.... we didn't have people discussing this heavily... we didn't have schools discontinuing the anthem...

no, Trump decided to pour gas on the fire, yet it's not his fault? again, there was kneeling/peaceful protest in the NFL before he spoke, but it's 10 time worse now... if anything, he solidified their position and pushed some of those players with a moderate stance towards the further end of the spectrum.... typical Trump bullshite that his supporters just refuse to associate with him.... in their mind, nothing is ever his fault... i've said it many times, but the guy could shite in his pants, and y'all would blame the guy standing next to him....

Within a couple hours, Central is once again safe. Anthem will be played now.

I think we really overestimate the amount of time and effort Pres Trump has put into this issue. He made a statement in a speech about it - no idea if the topic was planned or off the cuff - and he made a tweet about it. I'm sure there have been a few follow up questions from the press about it too.

Just because we have spent an inordinate amount of time talking about it doesn't mean he has. As far as I know - he hasn't taken any official action or made any policies in regards to this. He made a verbal and a written statement in support of the National Anthem and Flag being respected and not being an appropriate in his view means of protesting.

I agree this was a result of his speaking out on the topic - kneejerk reaction taking a not well thought out position because someone you oppose says you shouldn't do it.

He spent the majority of his morning Monday morning having a tantrum on Twitter about it while North Korea was simultaneously threatening to shoot down our planes not in their airspace. There is a humanitarian crisis in PR as well. He should stick to being president and not the host of a reality show.

Not long when you are doing it once. The time spent is not the point, it was that he was doing nothing else. Well, maybe watching Fox and Friends too.

He over turned the Jones Act to help with relief shipments. He has done what a President should do.

But you made a point of saying it.

The point I'd like to make is this: people shouldn't jump just because someone - the President or the media or anyone in a position of authority - says you should

Make your own choices and don't beat the drum for them.

Nope.

But I can understand why a bunch of people who act like children would blame Trump for causing them to respond the way they did.

Right. That was Trump's fault too, I'm sure.

Yes, because the natural reaction should be to double down acting like a child. Brillian.

quote:

if anything, he solidified their position and pushed some of those players with a moderate stance towards the further end of the spectrum.

So if they were moderate, then why react like this?

Yeah, always someone else's fault.

I didn't vote for Trump.

Have a guy shite on American Traditions while wearing "cops are pigs socks", communist shirts, etc, is most likely going to get a rise out of people. Sorry that surprises you.

I support their right to do whatever the hell they want, just don't be shocked when it pisses people off.

But I'm sure CK knew it was Trump's fault when he started all this while Obama was POTUS.
