Officers of the OT- Do your Departments offer "symbolic arrests" for events?

It seems awfully odd that a police department offers "symbolic arrests" as part of their services for protests. Is that odd or common? Seems awfully political, especially with off this BS going on in Berkeley right now.

Berkley, why am I not surprised. That place might have a strong academic reputation but I would go pretty much anywhere to not be surrounded by that ilk.
