Hopefully BLM sees the problematic issues with their calling for clashes with police.

I feel sorry for the family of the officer. How terrible.

Its the victim's families we should be the most concerned about in times like this.

The officer shot in the lower 9 was a Jefferson Parish deputy, NOPD not sure why he was there according to WWL radio just now.

It's believed he was serving a warrant as part of a federal drug task force.

Federal agents many times use local police to serve federal warrants.

WDSU just confirmed. He was a member of a DEA Task Force serving a warrant.

Shot in upper body near neck.

Shots were exchanged between suspect and rest of the task force that was involved after the suspect shot the JPSO deputy.

Just curious, why were they going to the 9th ward to serve a warrant before sunrise? Not that the area is any better at 11 am...

Element of surprise? Maybe the suspect isn't home during the day?

Because people like that aren't awake early in the morning.

Edit: Sorry, he's not really a person.

They were discussing that exact thing on the news. Said they choose to serve in early morning hours in order to try to catch people at home.
