They are armed to a much greater extent than most Brits but I don't think all are. Either way, how far did you think you going to get with a hammer...before they nailed you?

In normal times, it is quite the exception that you would see a uniformed LEO with a visible firearm.
This is true all over western Europe.

A typical cop is often not.
However, near major monuments and the like they are HEAVILY armed.

Offspring just called and told me the Mandeville High School senior trip group was inside Notre Dame when this happened. They had also just left London when the bridge attack happened.
