Looks like it might be happening finally. Zealot just tweeted that it's a packed house with Uber supporters. TigerWise is there representing the fellow cabbies.

I believe the Texas Legislature is going to going to officially recognize Uber this session . We love Uber in Austin. Just have to watch out for them during peak times. Other than that, no issues.

All I want is a fricking choice.
I was just in Chicago and used Uber 6-7 times over 2 days. It was absolutely incredible. It would make my life sooooo much damn easier here in NOLA.

Say what you will but Free Enterprise is working like it is supposed to here in BTR. I had the occasion to ride in a Yellow Cab last week for the first time since Uber came to town. Only because it was right there waiting and Uber was 10 mins out. Yellow Cab has gotten their shite together. Cab was clean, driver was clean and friendly, he didn't blather to his baby momma on Bluetooth the whole time and they have upgraded to a tablet based dispatch system. NONE of those things were true before Uber showed up.

And that is why NOLA Taxi companies are fighting this hard. They don't want to change. They want to be corrupt pieces of shite. They want to have shitty cars with no AC in the summer. They want to "turn the meter off" or have the "credit card machine broken" and just be general dicks.
And god forbid if you live in Lakeview or Metairie or Gentilly. Might as well start walking now because they will tell you to get fricked.
My last 5 experiences with NOLA cabs were absolutely terrible, all different companies.
I can't wait for Uber.

Uber is awesome, lyft in some ways is better. what is great about uber is if you get on board early and recruit your friends, you can ride for free.
I probably have gotten close to $1000 in free rides for referrals. sucks they took it from $30 to $20 per referral tho

On St. Paddys day an Uber picked me up from The Londoner at about 1am. Driver was dressed like the Notre Dame leprachaun.
