Minority owned construction company is retained, drops statue during removal.

That scenario would end well for everyone.

Okay so just so we're clear you can't link me to a single writer, protester, blogger, or human being that had a problem with these statues up until this faux outrage started correct?
I haven't put any thought to this premise; it's irrelevant. Regarding faux outrage, it is yours.

Absolutely stupid post with several incorrect assumptions.

We don't like slavery. There shouldn't be a statue of Robert E. Lee in his fighting-for-slavery uniform in Tivoli Circle. Anyone who respects history agrees that a carousel should be there.

All I did was reply to things directed directly to me; not really a "bump" per se (you bumped it by butting in, actually). You needn't read it if you liken't. Need a safe space?

Thank you for admitting I was right and not a single person took issue with these statues before that event.

I don't care about the statues. I've lived in New Orleans for a decade and have NEVER taken a trip downtown to go admire the statues.

What I do passionately care about is a city that is so frickin broke that their solution to fixing potholes (potholes that can almost swallow cars) is to put a cone in the middle of it and leave it like that for years. When the cone gets smashed they drive out and instead of fixing the problem they put a new cone. Water will seep through the road for months and months before they will come out and "repair" the leaking drain lines. Our infrastructure needs every bit of money we can throw at it. To remove, transport, store, and reconstruct is going to cost $1MM+ dollars. Plus how about all the time that our politicians are spending on this (last time I checked we pay them a shite ton too). This money isn't coming from a donor I can promise you that.

If you don't have an issue with this city pissing money away on things that will have zero positive or negative effects on the city then I assume you don't live here. If you don't live here then your opinion is meaningless.

I learned about it in eighth grade in school. What's your excuse?

Me way more than the message board warriors faux-raging over their toy statues. History is more than four years long.

WTF can you even read? I CARE ABOUT THE MONEY!!! Taking these rocks down requires money, money that we don't have. Damn your dense.

Hilarious that someone from New York spends so much time commenting on something that literally has nothing to do with him.

Incorrect assumptions? You're the one that said the monuments should be removed out of "common decency." Now it's "respecting history."
