New Orleans Airport - FOOD

I was just reading the article about the addition/renovation of the New Orleans Airport starting in January. One thing I've noticed about our airport is that we have the most deplorable food selections - with almost everything being inedible. In that terrible Zataran's kitchen they don't even cook - only microwave. In a city known for its food and with our economy being so dependent on tourism and conventions, wouldn't you think this would be an important thing to showcase in our airport? Am i the only one that gets so irate about this? Will we have better options in the New Airport? Or will whoevers brother runs Zatarans Kitchen and the Lucky Dog stand score these contracts again in the new facility?

Problem with the airport is the seperate concourses so no centralized food options. They need a center security checkpoint and the ability to move between concourses.

Eh, it's a dead end airport. If it was a hub, I could see investing in nice restaurants.

I'm pissed they got rid of the popeyes that was right by the security to terminal B. That was my go to

I was upset that a Popeye's couldn't even manage to stay open.
I'm sure it was the workers though - who wants to wait 30 minutes for some fried chicken.

You're telling me people might not like the airport food so they'll get right back on their plane and go home? It's strictly sustenance.

This combined with it very rarely being used as a layover stop. Most visitors are arriving/departing.

Ok maybe that isn't the best point to harp on. I just have too many flights I get on hungry because I can't eat the crap they are peddling there. We don't need anything nice. Hell give me a mcdonalds - just something hot and dependable.
I don't mean to bash the cheese biscuits at the copelands place bc they are on point...

Terminal D has a College Inn. Only terminal that I fly in and out of at MSY.

I believe that's part of the new plans. When they come to fruition, everything should be better, including the food.
I'm hopeful, but not holding by breath. I fear they will still be beholden to this asinine DBE nonsense, that will assure most of the offerings will be no better than the garbage we have currently.

I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs yesterday on the way out.
Had better chow in the Marines.

A lot of airports do not have centralized food but still have better food options than MSY.

I dont fly much at all but copelands is what I usually get. Honestly, if the city had money to sink into renovations it could be a world class airport. Being such a small city compared to giants like chicago atlanta and houston it's hard to compete.

I've been to the Zatarain's Kitchen in Terminal B more times than I can count. The food is ok but there is beer there.

The food is far from OK. Its on par with getting a sandwich out of a vending machine.

Didn't know you was a former.
MSY sucks, but it isn't as horrible as it used to be.
Terminal D is the worst laid-out terminal of any second-tier airport on the planet.

It's an origin & destination airport. Very few have quality food because most passengers are there for less than an hour.

Its similar to Vegas airport. Food options suck in Vegas.
