Just buy a used one. The markup is outrageous and they depreciate 40% as soon as you unwrap it.

Yeah, you can usually find one in pretty decent shape from one of the motels on Airline.

I posted this thread a few weeks back and many people recommended the iComfort or Sleep Number. I tested both as well as a Temperpedic and went with the Temper and adjustable base. It's been great on my back sleeping in a sort of "zero gravity" position. My wife likes a plush mattress so we got one that wasn't too firm but she actually likes the bed a lot. Just go to a store and spend at least 10 minutes plus lying on each bed and then go back and forth between the ones you narrow it down to. Don't let them rush you, take your time and lay on your back, side, stomach.

Also, if you're in LA, the guys in my thread mentioned some custom bed maker in BR I believe that makes the best so maybe he's worth a shot. I'll find the name.

Did they deliver to your house or did you have to pick it up? I need a king set in NOLA immediately, but am cautious of dealing with their retail storefront.

they deliver it to you. Delivery is free but they charge sales tax. I never went to the store, I just knew what I wanted.

Just ordered one. Delivery changed my buying experience. Not sure if I will be keeping it.

you live down the street in Oak Alley, don't you?

eta: Serta iComfort is the one we went with in our new house... so far, it's better than the previous (pillow top pocketed coils) one...

Congratulations! I moved into my current place two weeks prior to my wife delivering our second child. Can be a very stressful time, but when thinking about how fortunate we are, it was and is a blessing.

me too... sorta weird how similar that happened to both of us... anyway, i'm just glad to be much closer to BR, while still in the school district I'm in...

the house doesn't feel like "home" yet, but with time it will... we were in our first house for 7 years, so it's a little different... it's much bigger, so at times it seems more "empty", which doesn't help making it feel like it's our house... i'm so happy to have more space, especially with another child now, but yeah...
