They also have one of those triple filters under the sink, but the big filters are for the whole house

the anode would not come out of my water heater, so i just flushed it with vinegar. 3 years later and it's still fine. i googled the problem and found instructions

Turn up the temperature on your water heater. My uncle had the same problem as you and by increasing the water temp the smell went away.

Yep. Did this and it worked like a charm. Evidently the smell comes from bacteria that thrives at about 120f but dies off at 140.
