Kind of looking at a crossover car for the wife. Haven't bought a new car in years and kind of shocked at the prices. Looking at something that can handle cruising at 75-80 mph without the engine sounding like it's going to explode. Of course it will have to be loaded.

Lincoln's are out along as a caddie. I think those are some ugly cars outside.

Anyway, for owners of crossovers, post up the pro's and con's of yours.

Thanks.

Ff, I've got a Jeep Grand Cherokee. They start at around $30k and can run up to $50k loaded out (4WD/ Diesel/ Etc...)

I'm at 61k miles over 23 months and have done nothing but change oil and rotate tires.

Good luck, I know there's a strong contingent here who like the new Honda Pilot.

The Chevy Equinox always has some pretty decent rebates on it new.

He could also get the smaller Jeep Cherokee as well as the Compass and patriot.

I hate crossovers but any new vehicle will be able to cruise at that speed.

One of the best price friendly crossovers out there right now. Around $30K as seen but you can haggle for under $30k.

Best bang for the buck. I just can't see throwing 50K for a car, that is for sure. Under 30k is still a bit high. I'm retired.

wife drives a 2015 toyota highlander XLE, we looked at the limited but i can see that sonar crap breaking in a few years....I drove it on a long trip 1600 round trip...seat was okay...no body aches and what not....the kids didn't complain about the seats in the back...lots of plug ins in the back seat to keep the tablets and iphone charged....has built in screens on back seat doors for more sun block...more room behind the third row, more than the 2012 we had previously. lots of space when the third row is down...tons of room with both second and third row down. Drove good, gets up and goes when you need it on the interstate...had it to about 85-90 on some stretches of I10...toyota care is cool...service rocks... I dive an old truck...so I thought it was cool that the navigation told me that traffic was congested up ahead and it gave me an alternative route through Mobile...cons it cost mid 30's....

I still run the crap out of my XJ. Use it in the woods/off road.

Ff, I had a Ford Kuga in Germany for a couple of weeks and really was impressed with it. It's marketed at the Ford Escape in the U.S., I would think it would be fine for a wife unit.

ETA: It drove well on the autobahn at 100-110 mph. 75-80 mph will be a piece of cake for it.

Most important question is do you/does she want 3rd row seating?

Was looking at those. Nice ride. I'm 6' and the wife is 5' nothing. Like I said, power everything is a must.

Oh, the new smaller jeeps are out the question. Knew a few people that bought them and the engines didn't hold up.

No, out the question. Just the wife and I. Some times the grandson. 4 door, yes.
