Have it checked for water damage if it ever arrives

Go to dealership and demand deposit back. Negotiate new deal in part of the USA that has no danger of flood damaged cars. Get on plane and pick up vehicle. Simple. You will have piece of mind and that’s worth more than you know

There are no others on lots like we configured. We'd rather just have a new one made and shipped over.

Looks like there was flooding in the area:
LINK
US DOT regulations state that any damage over a certain amount in transit must be disclosed to the purchaser. That amount used to be $500. But it may be higher.
The shipping status picture sure looks like a 2 week "hole" in activity. That delay could be because of general conditions lingering because of the storm or because of flooding or other damage.
There is no scenario that I can imaging where any flood damage that would 2 weeks to fix would not be over $500 or would not total a privately ensured vehicle given all of the electronics in it.

Go to nearest Volvo dealership and demand answers. If you couldn't get someone on the phone, surely they can.
gaston,
Based on your Customs release statement, I'd agree with Saskwatch. Someone knows where your vehicle is located. Demand answers.

I'd want to be there when it finally shows at your dealer and go over it very well before accepting the vehicle.

Do you have a salesman you worked with? I'd call him with your semi-reasonable concerns (paint correction is possible, I don't think Irma damage is realistic).
I don't think it's unusual for a vehicle released from port on the 6th to take this long to arrive - it's with thousands of other cars getting trained/trucked across the country. Not exactly a FedEx envelope.
I wouldn't expect much from Corporate for a car that's not even two weeks late - but your salesman should at least appease you by saying this is either common or not. Was the 11th supposed to be delivery to the dealer? If so they take their time with all the paperwork and inspections they do to get the car ready for you.

Neither the dealer nor the US corporate will give us any details.

They're saying no damage was incurred during Irma. We ordered some options that are installed 'in port' and I guess that's the hold up. They'll have to pull and die cut the bumper to install the tow package, but the others are simpler. Thinking it'll be on the truck next week some time.

? How do you buy cars? Just toss em $50k and take whatever they give you?
I hate gold cars, but it's only $50k so who cares?

This would have been a good piece of info. to include from the beginning. I still don't understand why someone can't shoot you a quick email and say "Yes we are bolting shite on right now". I'm assuming they have no incentive to please you due to the fact you are an online customer and the car has already been "purchased".

The delivery date of the 11th was with the hitch installation. The accessories were added to the online order on 6/28/17.
