Once the lawn has finished don't be alarmed when there's smoking, it'll soon roll over and nap.

Turn it off at the meter if it's down line if it's up line, call the water Dept.

How am I supposed to know which is which? I'm about to just call the water people so I'm not liable for fricking with anything

You probably need to let your neighbor know asap so he doesn't need to use your shower tonight or have to pay a plumber overtime.

It shouldn't take long to fix it.

Go start a fire as near the leak as possible. The fire and water will cancel each other out until one of the public works members arrives.

If the leak gets really bad though you will have to light his house on fire to counteract enough.

If you turn his water off and it still gushes, it means it is happening upstream and not at the person's home/property.

Oh it's way too late for that, at this point you've already accepted full responsibility. You wanted to be the hero? Go be the fricking hero!!!

if it's between the house and the meter it's his problem, if it's between the city line and his meter it's the city's problem.

I would cut it off it where my neighbor.

Ones for the sprinkler and the other is probably the water meter. Well i have two boxes by the street. Turn both off dont think hes gonna complain you shut the irrigation off while his yard/maybe house is flooding

I should not be so harsh neighbors meters maybe buried underground where you may not be able to find. Call city for sure they will send someone out quickly to shut off.

Call your neighbor if you have his contact info. He should then call the water company. They will go out and determine if its their fix or his.

If you've never dealt with anything like this, you probably have no idea how to turn it off yourself and its best to leave it alone.

What do you mean? There should only be one water meter in his yard and it should be close to the leak. Follow the leak to the meter. There's a pipe running from the meter to the house and the leak is in the pipe.

Our country is fricked.

Try to trace the leak in a straight line to the nearest outside faucet you see. Walk in a straight line stopping about half way. When you think you're over the hose, dig and grab the hose. Kink it.

some areas you actually need a t-bar to turn the water off. If not you can get a small pipe or crescent wrench in there usually.

If it's on the city side, you have to cut water to the block, so don't mess with that.

The water Dept is going to tell you exactly what I just did.

Call you dad or any other male in your family and ask them to help.

he may be talking about the water shut-off on the house itself, which would do nothing at all in this case.

The service shutoff is right ahead of the meter.

Contact you neighbor first...if you turn off his water, the water heater could possibly drain and it will
Burn up the elements and cause a more costly repair
