Does anyone have experience negotiating a lower price on a used vehicle from a dealer?

Yes. Show them a similar vehicle (make, year, model, mileage, etc) at a lower price.

Relax, they can't hear the fear and confusion in your voice from reading.

I negotiated online for our most recent purchase. Haggled the online salesman by showing comps. Final settled price was $5k below ask.

I did the same except the salesman would only get within $1,000 to the other vehicle. I walked and was satisfied with the decision (went with a '13 Highlander).
The salesman was trying every sales pitch possible and I kept informing him that, "I do not care. The vehicle is only serving one purpose. Getting us from point A to point B for 5 days a week. The vehicle would be driven roughly 125 miles a week." He wouldn't listen, so I walked.
Just have some backups that you truly like and trust and don't mind getting.

What was he pitching to you? This is a new experience for me as my other vehicle was purchased from family.

I've got it narrowed down, just curious how much I could get them to come off an online advertised price.

Of course you care or you would have just gotten an older civic or accord
