Looking for accommodations close to lift, do not want to have to get on shuttle.
Family friendly
Ski novice family, not looking for advanced slopes.
What resort would you recommend?

I've skid Utah for 15 seasons, and skid most resorts in Utah, Park City Mountain Resort for novices, Deer Valley for novices with extra $$$. All the resorts are $110/day for an adult, Deer Valley is a little more but when you get there you will see where that extra $$$ goes, plus no snowboarding

Only one I've been to in Utah is Park City.. It wasn't my favorite

I've been to many different places in Utah. None were bad but Alta is my favorite. I've been there seven times through the years. Plenty of greens and blues. Only issue is they do not allow snowboarding. The mountain is interconnected with Snowbird which does allow it so it would still be an option.

If you're full of novices, The Canyons is the best mix IMO.

Even though there are snowboards, I always liked Brighton the best. I took plenty of novice friends there and they didn't have any issues. Around SLC all the resorts are fairly close so riding the shuttle was always an easy option, my sister lived down there for a time so that was easy for me. Solitude is also great for families.

I don't think you have to worry about it not being family friendly in Utah

I went to Brianhead, UT once while I was in the area visiting family. Frankly it was very cheap and not crowded, and the slopes were awesome IMO. I've been skiing a handful of times but stick mainly to the blue slopes, and my wife who had only been once before had a great time with all the greens and an occasional blue. It wasn't the most cutting edge lodge (or challenging slopes) but it more than made up for it with the lack of crowds and reasonable prices. Just my 2 cents.

Brighton had the best ski school for kids out of it, Solitude, and Alta, in my experience. My buddy went to Snow Bird as well, and agreed, IIRC, if that's a consideration. Had my, then. 5 year old having fun and learned a lot pretty quickly. Skiing is good as well, but that's pretty much everywhere out there.

Starting this year, Park City Mountain and The Canyons is one resort with an interlink tram and trails between the two.
There are plenty of affordable condos within walking distance of Park City Mountain base area if you don't want to spend ski in/out $$.

Doesn't fit your requirements, but I have always loved Brighton. Very quiet and non commercialized

Brighton. Especially at night when it's way cheaper and less crowded
