Need to get out of my contract with AT&T

How can I get AT&T to let me upgrade my phone without killing me with breaking my 2 year contract?
My wife has used all of our upgrades recently and my phone is going to shite. I'd like to do the Next plan. What are some tips for how to get them to give in?

have you called them and asked what they can do?...

Are you on an unlimited plan? If so, you may have a great shot in Feb to get out of it once they raise prices.

Just an FYI no one will be able to do anything but the next or edge plans soon. No more $200 off a phone with a contract type deal. If you want a new phone go talk to them. They will probably set you up if you are staying with them. You pay the cost of the phone at full price over two years. Smart move by them. And if you want out the contract you pay the remaining balance on the phone

You can just pay to upgrade as part of your plan, can't you?

I am currently on a 2 year contract that ends in September of 2016.
I spoke with them once on the live chat feature on their website and the person told me there wasn't anything they could do. I didn't have time to request a supervisor and go through that whole process.
Should I just tell them that I was thinking about other providers and see if they call my bluff?

Go to Best Buy or an actual store and talk to someone

You can buy a phone on Craigslist.

I did have time, and the supervisor said there is nothing they can do. You are stuck

Just go full 'Merica and lease an iPhone 4 at $38/month for two years...I'm sure they will let you do that.

Make a fake death certificate using word. Don't forget to put a seal (not the singer) on it to make it look official.

Check ATT coverage map, and find a location not served by ATT. Contact them and tell them you are moving to that location. They will release you from contract.
