Several to choose from including Duralast (AutoZone brand), BrakeBest, Wagner, Motocraft (Ford OEM pads), semi-metallic, ceramic, etc. Which ones are the best bang for your buck? Are the ceramic pads worth the extra cost? TIA

Just curious. Are these your first brake pad change outs? My 2012 F150 is still going strong at 83k on original set.

You can get them thru Ford for like $50 installed. Can't beat that deal.

How do I go about doing this? My local ford stealership quoted me $84.90 just for the pads, not including labor. Meanwhile the Duralast Gold are $30.

in my case i have an overactive 19yo son who loves doing this shite so i buy the brake pads and he puts them on all our vehicles, changes the oil, replaces exhaust system, etc

I made it to 120K on my 2011 before having to change them out about a month ago. I still had a little pad left on all but the driver side rear.

Went to autozone and paid the little extra for the gold ceramic. Well worth it. Don't pay anyone to change your pads. It is way to easy.

Go buy a large C clamp from HomeDepot and use it to depress the caliper. The front brakes on the F150 have dual compression so you will need to decompress them at the same time. Watch youtube videos as it makes it very simple to do.
You can take the old pad and lay it across the two calipers and the use the C clamp to decompress easily.

So it's a 2 person job? The front right and left brakes have to be decompressed on each side at the same time?

Some new vehicles require a tool that turns while you compress the caliper to go in. You can check it out from the auto parts store
