Unfortunately I will be spending my Labor Day hunting a new mattress and box spring.

I am not looking to break the bank, yet not looking to sleep on concrete.

What are a few good mid range mattresses? Spring vs foam?

A few months ago I looked at a Sealy posturepedic cobalt hybrid set for about $1700. That was a $400 box spring which I think is unreasonably expensive.

I bookmarked this thread last year.

LINK

I've heard good things about Sleep Innovations sold on Amazon. I'll probably go this route when I get a new one.

Me too. I'm in BR and about to go to Sears, HH Gregg or wherever to buy a Serta icomfort queen. No idea what model but not spending more than $1500.

Hood rat mattress factory, way down Florida, near Brian Harris. I have 3 in my house and 2 in my camper. Will never buy anything else as long as they're in business. Don't be afraid of the crack house appearance. Just walk in and pay half of what you would anywhere else and get a mattress that's twice as good.

Like a warranty on a car, mattress pricing is negotiable. Unless you're an OT baller... you may be able to save a few bucks regardless of which one you choose.

Sorry, I am in Shreveport.

I know the big dealers will be MattressFirm and Sears other than the local furniture stores.

NEVER buy a mattress without laying on it first. Find one in the store and go buy it online

Whats the word on the box springs, or as I see now they are called "foundations".

I see them from $99 to $500. I wouldnt think that I need to spend the previously quoted $400 on one of those.

I got my bed from Hurwitz Mintz on airline and the price of the bed included the box spring(s). I got a king so its the price of two box springs.

ETA- if the price ranges from 100-500 depending on your budget I'd probably just split the difference and spend the $200-250

This. Bought a queen about 7-8 months ago and I love it. I think it was $600 even. No tax. Free delivery. 100 day trial. If after 100 days you hate it, they arrange for a charity to pick it up and you are refunded.
I will warn you though, its a very firm mattress, which is what I wanted, but some think it's too firm. I love it though. You don't sink into it like most memory foam.

Also is made in USA with high quality foam. Heard the Amazon one is made in China.

For a less firm mattress, I hear the Casper is good.

Have you looked at Saatva mattresses. They are a direct from factory to home and are quality made in the U.S.A. You can't beat the price for what you get, as there are no salesman or other middlemen to mark up the price.

I second tuft and needle. I have had mine for over a year and love it. You will not find a better deal.
