Need ideas for Mardi Gras ladder.

I need to make boxes for two ladders for Mardi Gras this year. The kids are very young if that helps. What are your brilliant ideas?
I've seen some tweaks through the years but can't remember any. All I have is wheels on the box to roll and a fold up cup holder.
Also, no Mardi Gras ladder haters. I will stay back an appropriate distance and all that other stuff annoying ladder people do. There is just no way to hold and protect a 1 and 3 year old from throws and have them be able to see the parade.

Get some green, gold and purple spray paint. When construction of the boxes is done(pre add-ons like cup holders and wheels)let the kids paint them. They love helping out.
Or you could go to Clement Hardware on Magazine and buy them already made.

My father in law made a great one for my kids with scrap stuff he had in the garage and it served us well for 5 years.
1. Use big wheels, not your tiny 4 inch front lawnmower wheels.
2 Use a sturdy ladder.
3 A big help for the adults is to build a little stand out of wood that can be attached to the steps of the ladder. Our's was cut to fit perfectly and we just tightened up bolts by hand to hold it on. This makes it so much more confortable standing for long parades, etc.

i never heard of a mardi gras ladder where I come, however, we still chase chickens and ride horseback.

Don't worry about these folks. Swaying around on top of an old wooden ladder stuffed in with one of your siblings or cousins trying to catch beads as a child is a New Orleans right of passage.
Of course now-a-days everyone has 12 foot fiberglass ladders, but I imagine the experience is equally a frightful.

1 and 3? Wait a few years until they will actually remember it.

3 is a perfect age. They will remember, mine do.
Ides; Big wheels, Cup Holder, Mardi Gras color paint, LED rope lights (battery operated).

I had one when my girl was little. I attached a piece of flexible drain pipe to the side of the seat that went into a bag that was hung on the ladder hinges. Just drop stuff down the pipe and in the bag it goes.

carpet on the inside of the boxing

Put a vertical strap to go between their legs so they don't slide passed the edge of the seat.

Should a 1 year old be close enough to the parade to need to be protected from throws?

I'll check those places to see if I like what they got.
Some good ideas so far.
The ladder is so I can keep my little ones farther back and safe. They can still see over crowds to enjoy the lights, colors, and sounds of the parade. The goal is just to watch and bring at least 3 beads home for the 3 year old's inevitable parade around the house.

Get a piece of plastic drainage tile and with one end attached up by the seat. Put a hook lower on the ladder where you can hang a bag from with the other end of the pipe.
That way you don't have to balance a heavy bag of beads on the top of the ladder, too.
