No offense, but you and bomber are way off. It doesn't take a whole lot of money or parts to turn a diesel 3/4 tin truck into a fast vehicle.
Obviously it won't be super reliable, but those trucks are easy to get into low 13, high 12 territory, which is more than enough to hang with a Vette on the street. Let's not forget most drivers aren't going to wring every last tenth out of their Vette, so it's not crazy to think low 13 second truck could in theory hang with a mid 12 capable Vette.
For a different expample, I used to have a supercharged '96 4Runner that ran 14.8 @ 89 mph. In that I was able to beat LT1 f-bodies and non-pi Mustang GTs back in the day, because if they screwed up at all I was right there.
And if my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle.
I could be running a Geo Metro against a 2SS Camaro in the 1/8th and if the Camaro spins, I win...doesn't mean anything. Obviously that's an exaggerated example...but the point still stands. All things constant, stock Corvette > F250 w/ I/T/E.
FWIW, I ran a brand spanking new C6 'Vette at the track last Friday. Dude spun the tires and was all in all a not so great driver...you could tell he had just bought the car and was learning it. Even with his sh*tty 2.275 60', he managed a 12.839 @ 115.04.
I'm not knocking on diesel trucks or Hammertime's truck...I love nothing more than a quick truck cause I used to be in that scene (albeit mine never ran well). But bottom line is, it's a stretch to say that a mildly modded diesel can hang with a Vette. Had he said anything else in the low 13 second range, sure...no doubt about it. But Vettes are just a tad out of range.
