Need exterior metal doors painted---suggestions?Posted by magiLSU on 10/5/12 at 1:43 pm
From what I've read online, I'm having the same issue a lot of people have with my 2 metal doors...the primer bond to the metal is failing, so the paint is peeling. Can anyone suggest a painter in the Prairieville area? TIA

What kind of primer was used? Has to be oil-based. Rustoleum makes a clean metal primer, and I think they also make paint for metal doors to apply over primer. I used the primer, followed by some kind of paint that I don't remember but was probably run-of-the-mill wal-mart or lowes paint, followed by a couple of coats of polyurethane. Held up fine for the past couple of years. I brushed it all on with a soft brush. Brush lines were not a big deal because my door is white. Might take a little more finesse for a darker color.
