Newer car has a push button start, so the fob just needs to be on you. Instead of reaching in your pocket to unlock/lock and then putting it back in your pocket or throwing it to the side like in a cup holder, fob is on a lanyard for ease of access and also less likely to leave fob behind on your console.
Is it Douchey to wear your new car necklace or just smart?

You need to get a car that'll unlock when you get close enough to the car. Then you're only taking the key out to lock the car.

You'll look like a freshman at orientation if you wear that fob on a lanyard

You're obviously young, so yes, it's going to seem douchey among your peers. When you're older, and more mature, you won't be asking these questions, because you won't give a frick what other people think and you won't give a frick what other people are wearing...within reason.

Do it. Make sure everyone asks you what it's for.

you will always be recalled as the all time clueless person of the O-T.

just take selfies and post them hereabouts.

next time buy a car you can command in two other ways. can't you see how that fob is going to be a problem forever.

sometimes products fail for a good reason.

Well the car won't lock unless the fob is out of the car. Soooo...just put the fricker in your pocket like a normal person.

Or for your case your fanny pack.

Nice subtle brag about new car.

Do whatever you want to and frick the haters.

Why not keep the said fob in your pocket as if the car had an actual key?

When you say wear the lanyard like a necktie do you mean putting under your shirt collar like this girl?

Or

Wearing it like this fellow?

I'd go with his less organized look.

Mine is on my key chain and never leaves my pocket. Ever. Why would you take it out of your pocket?

That's how I wear my power pole fob, can't risk losing that thing.

Problem is the wires got crossed somehow so both poles operate on the same button as opposed to separate.
