I come across your type all the time, you want what you want, but also want it to be code. Ain't gonna happen in this instance. Good luck.

I have a question....with regard to electrical outlets, what does the term "dedicated" mean?

Feeds nothing else, could actually need a single device depending on where it's located.

Dude I was mainly responding to you in this thread because you seem to be the expert (electrician).

Spankum said this
quote:

just trip the GFCI to see what outlets in your house stop working. Then replace one of the other outlets with a GFCI and replace the current GFCI with a USB outlet.

Then you said this
quote:

Problem is, if he has 4 outlets down stream he'll have to install GFI's in each to be code compliant.

I said this (note that I questioned the compliance)
quote:

It looks like there is just one outlet down stream. I guess I could put the GFI on the end and my USB in the first spot. Would that be compliant?

I failed to let you know that it was in a kitchen. Even though I eventually let that information be known, that doesn't change anything on my end SINCE I'M STILL LOOKING TO BE COMPLIANT.

Instead of jumping my arse and making assumptions why don't you develop some communication skills.

I appreciate your advice and will chose to still be compliant and scrap my plans.

Now kindly go frick yourself with a multimeter.

keep the GFCI and add a "Snap-power" USB charger
LINK

shite just came across this in the FAQ -

"At this time our products are not compatible with GFCI outlets. GFCI outlets can be identified by the test and reset buttons between the plugs."

put it on the one for the fridge

You are good like you are, but no, you want something you can't do legally. You will get what you get, get someone to do it illegally, no biggie to me.

Did you read anything in this thread?

I asked if I could do something legally.

Nowhere in this thread did I say frick it and disregard any of your advice.

Again, frick off.

But he can do it legally by changing the breaker, not sure why you think it can't be legally done

Exactly. Even I knew that before I started the thread. I'm just looking for a cheaper and more convenient way if possible at all.

He's on his period obviously.

If there is no water on the island change the GFI out , but whatever outlet is the first one on the load side or (down stream ) as you put it , change it out to a gfi .....

Not exactly code but since you have no water in the island don't let it bother you ...

Just remember when you replace the next outlet to a gfi to put whatever outlets down line that is not a Gfi but is in the kitchen on the load side of the new GFI you install ..

You would be looking at $40 ish for the breaker, $10 for the outlet, 15 minutes of work. Not too bad

Just change breaker.

It's the easiest thing here.

While you are in the panel, land all your grounded conductors and neutrals on their own separate screw.
